CANCER PATIENTS TO GREATLY BENEFIT WITH THE GROUND BREAKING OF THE CANCER CARE CENTER OF THORNTON
THORNTON, CO (January 22) - The new Cancer Care Center of Thornton will vastly improve the lives of cancer patients in north Denver by providing the most advanced clinical technology for the detection and treatment of cancer for this community. Exempla Lutheran Medical Center, in partnership with e+ Healthcare, Mountain Radiation Oncology Consultants and Northern Hematology Oncology will integrate comprehensive cancer care services by coupling the most advanced imaging and treatment technology under one roof.
Ground breaking for the $10 million facility, located at 9461 Huron Street, will begin January 23 with a ceremony which will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Scheduled for a fall 2007 opening, the 19,124 square-foot center will centralize outpatient cancer services for patients by providing imaging services, including state-of-the-art integrated position emission tomography (PET) scans and computed tomography (CT) scans, as well as radiation therapy and chemotherapy. PET/CT scans are currently the most accurate imaging technology for the detection and evaluation of cancer, according to e+healthcare co-founder and Chief Executive Officer Timothy Petrikin.
Consistent philosophies in providing excellence in patient care made the partnership right for both e+healthcare and Exempla Lutheran Medical Center. "The concept of a comprehensive cancer center helps further Lutheran's vision to foster healing and health in our surrounding communities," said Robert Malte, president and CEO of Exempla Lutheran Medical Center. "We treat the whole person, not just the disease," said Malte. Added e+healthcare CEO Tim Petrikin, "We are all committed to winning the battle of cancer. Cancer affects not only the patient but their family and friends as well."
The Cancer Care Center of Thornton marks the first comprehensive cancer care center for Nashville-based e+healthcare, which currently operates over 15 fixed-site PET Imaging Centers in partnership with major medical centers and physicians nationwide.
Construction for the project will be managed by Nashville-based Oman-Gibson Associates, a nationally recognized healthcare real estate services and development company.
